About The Role

Role summary:

A vacancy exists in the People Services Team as a Flexible Workforce Senior HR Advisor. Reporting into the Flexible Workforce ER Manager, the purpose of the roles is to provide full, comprehensive and well-informed Human Resources Management Support services to internal/ external customers in relation to Bank Members. The role is also responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of NHS Professionals Human Resource policies, procedure, and strategy and ensure best practice Human Resource Management techniques are adhered to for Bank Members and is consistent within the organisation.

Skills/Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and guidance on standard HR policies and procedures, terms, and conditions of employment to internal and external customers.
  • Assist Bank Members with Occupational Health support and assess reasonable adjustments alongside NHSPs Client Trusts.
  • Respond to a broad range of Flexible Workforce HR queries and complaints including but not limited to attendance, moving wards WTD queries.
  • Supervision of Flexible Workforce HR Advisory/Assistant Team, including development, coaching, and performance management.
  • Analyse and manage the support desk function on a day-to-day basis, recommending appropriate courses of action to ensure the effective resolution of issues.
  • Supporting the Flexible Workforce HR Advisory/ Assistant team to deliver an effective first line BM Employee Service.
  • To support the provision of induction and training for new team members.
  • Assist with employee services support to bank members, including managing and responding to service desk enquiries.
  • Respond to telephone, voicemail and email messages in a timely manner.
  • Establish and develop good working relationships at all levels and in all disciplines throughout NHSP as appropriate to facilitate the work of the HR team.
  • Ensure all team members have the tools, training and support to excel and promote an environment of trust and inclusiveness for ongoing best practice and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:

  • Using own judgement to resolve issues, knowing when to escalate or pass on effectively
  • Record and input data for the reporting of Flexible Workforce HR information.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for Flexible Workforce HR queries.
  • To support in the absence of colleagues and/or deputise for Line Manager when required.
  • Provide information and support across a range of HR activities to managers and employers.
  • Create clear short, medium, and long-term development plans for each team member.
  • Conducting 1:1s and wellbeing checks, setting SMART objectives, conducting performance reviews, and encouraging new initiatives to drive improvements.

About The Candidate

To be successful in this post you will need to demonstrate;
 
  • Certificate in Personnel Practice, or equivalent knowledge
  • Willing to undertake suitable training courses, appropriate to the role
  • CIPD qualified, working towards, or interest in studying for membership of CIPD
  • Experience of providing Advice & Guidance on Employment Law & HR issues
  • Relevant experience in an operational HR role
  • Experience in managing/supervising people
  • Experience of working as part of a team to deliver required objectives within specified timescales
  • Experience of providing an HR service in the NHS
  • Experience within a large complex organisation
  • Call Centre or shared service HR Advisory experience (desirable) 
  • HR Ability to negotiate with people using tact and discretion, leaving customers satisfied with the outcome whilst maintaining NHSP’s HR policies
  • Ability to give informed HR advice on HR issues.
  • Able to work in a pressurised environment and work to tight deadlines.
