About The Role
Junior Buyer 
Hemel Hempstead or Leeds based, with Hybrid working 
37.5 hours per week, Permanent 
 
We are looking for Assistant Buyers to join our Procurement and Facilities Team. 
 
It’s a fast paced and diverse role where no 2 days are the same.
 
As a Junior Buyer, we’ll expect you to manage and deliver all aspects of strategic sourcing on a designated range of direct and indirect spend projects.
 
You will be target driven and you will be supporting the function to achieve its annual allocated savings target.
 
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience of the buying process, working closely with the Buyer and Procurement & SRM Manager to run end to end tenders. 
 
Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Work with Procurement and facilities team to identify savings opportunities (product standardisation, supplier rationalisation, etc.)
  • Maintain Contracts database
  • Develop communication materials relating to category strategy for presentation to key internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Perform detailed supply market analysis with framework
  • Present supplier long list to Procurement & SRM Manager and other stakeholders (as necessary) to obtain sign off
  • Develop tender documentation package
  • Execute end to end tendering process and manage supplier queries with relevant Buyer support (escalate critical issues to relevant Managers)
  • Work within NHSP’s internal Group Expenditure policy and contracting guidelines
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
  • If required support both Buyer and Procurement & SRM Manager in supplier negotiations, including writing up meeting notes
  • Ensure category spend, supplier management and contract databases are kept updated
  • Ensure pricing accuracy in information systems
  • Act as a guardian to control and avoid price increases in the relevant spend areas
About The Candidate
To be successful you will have:
  • Relevant experience in sourcing either products or service
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills for day to day workload
  • Ability to work within timescales and to deadlines
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Great communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to work well within a tight team
  • A self-starter attitude and ability to use own initiative
