Role summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Nursing & Quality to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with our Account Management Team to deliver exceptional services to our client Trusts and the broader healthcare sector. You will provide leadership and guidance to both client Trusts and internal teams, fostering partnerships with senior clinicians to align goals and drive patient safety initiatives.

Skills/Responsibilities:

NHSP was founded in 2001 by the Department of Health and Social Care. It now operates the largest bank in the country, with 50 Client Trusts, with a flexible staff-bank. The Clinical Governance Team within NHS Professionals ensures that the highest standards of clinical governance and quality are embedded within the organisation. This post reports directly to the Director of Clinical Governance and Quality and involves supporting national, regional and Trust specific quality improvement, compliance and professional practice initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain Clinical Governance Quality Improvement Plans (CGQIP) tailored to designated Trusts.
  • Collaborate with Trust Learning and Development departments to identify and implement training and development opportunities for bank staff.
  • Lead the monitoring and management of bank staff involvement in patient safety and performance issues, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into practice.
  • Analyse feedback and data to identify trends, developing improvement plans to address issues.
  • Attend and contribute to Trust Quality & Safety Groups and Serious Incident Review Groups.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on governance activities to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead on professional standards and liaison with NMC and wider stakeholders including Bank members and trust teams.
  • Act as a point of contact for the NMC, providing information and updates on matters related to nursing and midwifery within NHSP.
  • Where necessary be involved in supporting investigations into concerns raised with the NMC, providing information and assistance as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of organisation-wide risk management, patient safety, and quality strategies.
Please note: The location of the role will be predominantly working from home, with occasional travel into trust. 
 

About The Candidate

To be successful in this post, you will need to:

  • Be a Registered Nurse with a Master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate substantial managerial experience within the NHS, with a strong understanding of the Acute and/or Mental Healthcare sectors.
  • Exhibit excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with senior business stakeholders.
  • Have experience in quality improvement, patient safety, clinical audit, and risk assessment.
  • Show a track record of leading and influencing staff, including those outside of direct line management.
  • Possess advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and implement evidence-based improvements.
  • Be proficient in problem-solving, adaptable to changing environments, and capable of making autonomous decisions.
  • Hold a full UK driving license and have access to a car for business travel.
