Role Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Academy Trainers to join the NHS Professionals Academy.

Our Academy plays a vital role in supporting the healthcare workforce by delivering high-quality, accessible and engaging education and training programmes.

As an Academy Trainer, you will help equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge, confidence and essential skills they need to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.

You will deliver a range of Statutory and Mandatory training programmes in addition to our growing commercial offerings (non clinical), both face-to-face and online, while contributing to the development of innovative learning resources and continuous improvement of our training provision.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking team where your ideas, expertise and professional development will be valued.

As an Academy Trainer, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality training across a range of Statutory and Mandatory subjects, including Basic Life Support, Conflict Resolution, Patient Moving and Handling, and Breakaway techniques.
  • Deliver face-to-face training predominantly within your designated region, typically 3–4 days per week, alongside online training delivery.
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment, adapting your delivery to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Assess learner understanding and practical competence, providing constructive feedback to support development and patient safety.
  • Contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of training materials and educational resources.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including teaching observations, learner feedback reviews and training evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate training records and uphold the Academy’s standards, policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, clinical educators and operational teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality learner experience.
  • Take an active role in your own continuing professional development, with dedicated non-delivery time to support learning, content development and improvement activities.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Have experience delivering training, teaching or facilitating learning in a professional environment.
  • Be a confident and engaging communicator, with the ability to motivate and support learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for education, professional development and delivering an excellent learner experience.
  • Be organised, adaptable and comfortable delivering training both face-to-face and through digital platforms.
  • Be committed to quality assurance, continuous improvement and maintaining high professional standards.
  • Be willing to undertake training and competency assessments across all required Statutory and Mandatory subjects.
  • Be comfortable travelling regularly within your designated region, with occasional travel outside the region to meet business needs.

Experience in healthcare education, emergency services, teaching or workplace learning would be advantageous. However, we particularly welcome applicants with transferable training skills and a willingness to learn.
