At NHS Professionals, we are looking for a Marketing Apprentice to join our Bank Member Engagement team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience whilst studying towards a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification in multi-channel marketing.

This apprenticeship has a duration of up to 18 months, leading to a Level 3 Qualification in multi-channel marketing.

Location; Hemel Hempstead (Some hybrid working available – to be discussed at interview stage)

Formal learning will be delivered via a selected national apprenticeship provider, supporting learners through their training with industry-leading programmes. Your assigned tutor will deliver a blend of high-quality remote and face-to-face learning to provide all the resources you need to progress.

You will also have access to an intuitive learner management system with interactive learning tools, complementary online resources, and relevant social communities. What is fantastic about this apprenticeship opportunity is the ability to undertake on the job skills development, where you apply and evidence your newly acquired skills in the workplace.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide day‑to‑day support in building emails, proofing, data selection, and sending communications to support our Bank Members and help fill additional shifts across the NHS. This includes delivering all email requests from our In‑Trust colleagues, such as placement information, additional shift availability, training updates, policy reminders, and more.
  • Support the team in writing, building and proofing the monthly Digest newsletter, which is sent to all our active Bank Members and Doctors Direct service users.
  • With support, provide answers and solutions to a wide range of day‑to‑day queries from In‑Trust teams and our Communications inbox, helping to support our Bank Members, NHS Trusts, and Client Services teams.
  • With support, develop creative requests and submit these to the NHSP Design Team for them to develop creative assets to be used across social media, newsletters, competitions, emails, and other marketing materials.
  • Support in the development and implementation of campaigns including key dates to celebrate our Bank Members e.g. OPD Day and International Nurses Day.
  • Support the team in the delivery of major campaigns and competitions to maximise Bank Members engagement and shift fill e.g. Nurses and Midwives Day, Bank Member of the Month Award and our G.E.M Awards.
  • Design and build surveys to best support marketing engagement activity, utilising tools such as Smart Survey.
  • Opportunity to present current activity and priorities in the weekly team catch up.
  • Provide holiday cover for other areas of the team where necessary, including:
    • Website – be trained to be able to update the website via Sitecore.
    • Social Media – be trained to develop and post social media content across Facebook, Instagram etc, and monitor comments and sentiment on social channels
    • Internal comms – provide support to implement the weekly internal newsletter and ad hoc internal communication messages.

Duration: Up to 18 months Qualification: Level 3 Multi-channel marketing.

Starting Salary - 1st year - £15,650 per annum (national apprenticeship wage)

Second Year:
Ages 18-21: £21,220 per annum 
Ages 21 and over: £24,860 per annum

Interview Process

Initial interviews will be held via Teams at the end of June / early July. Further details will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

About The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including English and Maths
  • Be 18 or over at the time of joining
  • Not currently in full-time education
  • Have some experience in a customer-focused or office environment, but full training will be provided
  • Interest in learning a variety of marketing skills
  • Good written English and grammar skills
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication skills
  • A professional and positive attitude to learning
