About The Role

Ready to shape IT architecture across a growing NHS technology estate?

Could you be the Solution Architect who helps our Architecture function punch above its weight?

Fancy a role where your decisions today shape how NHSP's technology estate looks tomorrow?

Role summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect to join NHS Professionals on a fixed-term contract to March 2027. You'll be part of our Architecture function, currently being relaunched within the IT Product & Architecture directorate, working alongside our Technical Architects to design solutions that support the NHS's largest flexible staffing provider. If you enjoy variety, want real influence over how a re-energised architecture practice takes shape, and like the idea of your work making a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Skills/Responsibilities:

Our Architecture function is being relaunched, giving NHSP the technical foundation it needs as we grow. We work closely with Product Managers and delivery teams to make sure every solution we build is sound, secure, and fit for the future — and you'll be right at the heart of that.

  • Design and own solution architecture across Microsoft technologies, IT infrastructure, and cloud platforms (Azure and AWS)
  • Provide cover and support for Salesforce solution architecture alongside our dedicated Salesforce Solution Architect
  • Work with Product Managers to turn business requirements into practical, well-designed solutions
  • Get involved in our governance forums, helping shape technical standards and decisions across the business
  • Bring ideas and experience that help us build a stronger, more resilient Architecture function as it relaunches

About The Candidate

To be successful in this post you will need to:

  • Have solid, hands-on experience designing and delivering solutions across Microsoft technologies, IT infrastructure, and cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
  • Be comfortable picking up Salesforce architecture where needed, working alongside our dedicated Salesforce Solution Architect
  • Have worked in an Agile delivery environment (SAFe or similar) and know how to balance business need with technical rigour
  • Be confident presenting ideas and designs to governance forums, and holding your own in technical discussions
  • Be a clear communicator who can explain technical concepts to people who aren't technical
  • Bring a collaborative, can-do approach — happy to challenge the status quo and help shape a function that's relaunching
